Artichokes are incredible flowers that are grown and eaten as vegetables. Fresh artichokes’ bouquets appear on the shelves of shops and markets in Provence in winter and early spring. I am fascinated by the living structure of these plants, so before preparing them for food, I quickly drew a sketch from life in my album. Then I repeated this plot in oil on canvas pasted onto three wooden tablets, where each one could be a separate work.
