In spring in Provence, wild irises bloom near houses. Yellow in damp places. In chalk soils
the tall ones are pale purple. And on the side of the roads, small dark purple flowers are pleasing to the eye.
The difficult task of finding purity and colour saturation was solved by using oil paints and ready-made ultramarine violet and pink pigments.
